YOUR SHIELD OF PROTECTION
In 1975, the residents of the Westlake and surrounding communities started the
Westlake Fire Department with fewer than twenty members, a van, and four-
hundred feet of assorted hose.
The Westlake Fire Department has come a long way and is proud of the
accomplishments it has achieved over the thirty-five years. The membership and
staff of Westlake consist of ninety-four highly dedicated and motivated personnel.
The following are a few of our achievements:
Responded to 2,963 calls in 2014.
68 Volunteer members.
2 Class "A" engines.
1 100 foot aerial.
3 BLS ambulances .
3 Command vehicles.
1 Rescue Boat.
1 Medic responder vehicle with assigned Paramedics 24 hours per day.
Average response time of 5 minutes.
Currently the average Public Protection Classification for departments across the
nation is a PPC "6". We improved our department to a PPC rating of a "3" which
places us in the top 3% fire departments in the nation.
